On the 23rd of June Australia are playing their last group match against Serbia in the Mbomela Stadium 7:30pm. Australia will play a formation of  4-5-1  and Serbia will play a formation of  the simple 4-4-2. Australia need to make sure they win this by 9 goals and hope that Germany and Ghana draw 0-0 which I doubt will happen. Australia will be without the suspended Harry Kewell but they will have Tim Cahill.

In class we had to come up with new anthems for the teams in the world cup. This is ours for Australia:

Come on Socceroos kick that ball like Kangeroos,

Come on Socceroos we will never ever loose,

Come on Socceroos we are better than all of you’se.

From the S to the O to the C.C.E to the R to the O to the O and S.

We have been thinking of a new emblem for Australia – this is what we came up with – what do you think?

On the 13th of June 2010 was the 8th game of the world cup. The match was played in Durban Stadium.

The match kicked off at 7:30pm and the game was Australia vs. Germany. Germany started the match with Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose, last top goal scorer, having the first touches.

Germany were all over the Socceroos in the first 10 minutes and also drew first blood with a missile shot from Lukas Podolski. Klose nearly scored but it was saved but he scored a great header from an awesome cross from Oezil. The whistle blew for half time and the manager has to tell Australia something that will change the game dramatically.

Australia kicked off the second half and about 10 minutes through Australia’s star player sent off, it looks like the manager told them to lose instead of win! A couple of minutes later Germany scored again with Miller who scores a great goal off the post. Later on Germany make a substitution taking off Klose for the born Brazilian Cacau. It looked like a good substitution because he scored a goal and it was scored under 2 minutes while he was on!

The final score was 4-0 to Germany. Mark Schwarzer must be very annoyed that he conceded 4 goals.

Tonight the Socceroos begin their World cup campaign against Germany! The match will take place in the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban at 19.30 – the match can be watched live on ITV. The teams have played each other twice and both times Germany have won, so will tonight be different? We certainly hope so!

Tomorrow is also the Kick off of this blog in class – the children will be researching both the team and the country and are really looking forward to sharing their knowledge with you!

So what will the score be tonight? Leave your prediction as a comment and my class will reply tomorrow
